About us

Dr. Malone is the owner and operator of The Highland Vet. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University in 2010. Following graduation, she worked in Dallas, Texas, for three-years at an upscale, high-volume clinic seeing cats, dogs, and exotic animals. She also worked part-time at a local emergency clinic.

In 2013, Dr. Malone moved back to her hometown of Madison, Mississippi. Since then, she has been working on cats, dogs, and the occasional pocket pet. She has a special interest in internal medicine and geriatric care. In 2017, she realized that more and more cats and dogs were having to be euthanized due to arthritis and other geriatric issues. Realizing that western medications only resolved chronic issues for a short amount of time, she looked to other options for a long-term solution to help her patients have a better quality of life and possibly even a longer life. Her search led her to the world of Eastern and alternative medicine.

In Dr. Malone’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kyle, and two boys, Brock and Grayson. She also enjoys traveling, exercising, and reading.

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Dr. Shawn Patterson practices both large and small animal medicine, with a special emphasis on holistic and integrative approaches to veterinary care.

Dr. Patterson and her husband, Robert, have been married for 10 years and live in Brandon. At home, she’s surrounded by a full house of animals: four kitties, Mr. Wilson, Alex, Bubba, and Sissy, a puppy named Zeke, and three horses, Moses, Prime, and Tootles.

An avid horsewoman, Dr. Patterson enjoys spending her free time competing in barrel racing whenever she gets the chance!

Known for her calm presence, gentle touch, and compassionate approach, Dr. Patterson has a natural ability to earn the trust of the animals in her care. Her peaceful energy and dedication to every animal’s well-being shine through in all she does.

Hey, my name is Sunshine. I am in college to become a veterinary technician at Penn Foster. I’ve always had a love for animals. I grew up with horses but I also have four dogs, five cats, and three pigs. Some of my favorite hobbies are: photography; hunting; and riding four wheelers.

My name is Tracy Mohon. I was born and raised in Wyoming and now call Canton, Mississippi home, where my husband and our four very spoiled dogs and I have lived for the past ten years. In my free time, I enjoy baking, decorating my home, exercising, and spending time outdoors. My most favorite thing to do is love on and spoil my fur babies. I have had a lifelong love for animals and grew up surrounded by sheep, horses, chickens, cats and dogs. I truly feel blessed to have spent the past 10 years in the veterinary field as a receptionist assisting with patient care. I am so excited to be part of the team here at The Highland Vet.
